Mombasa Roots Band- Kenya

Possibly one of the oldest bands in Kenya, the Mombasa Roots Band has since 1977 rilled Kenyans, East Africans and loyal fans around the world to Afrobeat music with a touch of Kenyan life and instruments.

The band was started by three brothers, Ebrahem Juma Suleiman Juma and Saeed Juma and later joined by three other to support with vocals and instrumentals. After performing live music in several clubs and hotels for more than ten years, the band became popularly known as the’ Hotel Band’ recorded their first album in 1987 and became an instant hit.

They are most popular for hit songs such as Disco Chakachaka and Kata. To date, the band’s style of Afrobeat has not changed and they continue to thrill several clubhouses and hotels both in Africa and the diaspora.
