South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
Located in eastern Zambia, South Luangwa National Park is a popular wildlife haven and hosts a large population of Thornicroft giraffes. The park is also home to thousands of elephants, cape buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos.
The park covers 9,050 square kilometers and is popular for its large population of hippos that wander around the Luangwa River. If you are lucky, you might spot a pride of over 30 lions hunting zebras and impalas.
The best time to visit this park is during the dry season from April to October when most animals remain near the waterholes, allowing tourists to get up close and personal.
