Poem: The Soul of a Man

The Soul of a man
Is something a woman
Will never fully understand
What lies beneath the iron
And steel cast that hides his heart?

Tormented by his past
Her words still hurt.
He wonders why and ponders
If it’s even worth one last try
Or should they both just say goodbye?
Leaving all they had behind

In the dark he cries alone.
Longing for her touch
To dry the moistness from his
Swollen eyes.

She is the ray to his sunshine
The rainbow after his storm.
The silver lining in his cloud

But what went wrong?
Why has her love gone?
Why does he feel so incomplete?
His soul is not satisfied.
Incomplete without his queen

How can a man stand alone and be king?
A woman will never understand
She is the soul of a man.
