Many people are now living in a deodorized world, where the sale of soaps, antiseptics, wipes and sprays to maintain personal hygiene is the norm.

But before these inventions and frequent bathing were introduced in the early 1900s, how were ancient Africans keeping themselves clean?

The following are some of the interesting techniques ancient Africans came up with to maintain personal hygiene. Some are, however, still being practised today.
