One of the multiple sexual assault lawsuits against Sean “Diddy” Combs has been dismissed after the plaintiff, who filed anonymously, failed to reveal her identity as required by the court.

The Jane Doe accuser alleged that Combs attempted to sexually assault her at a 1995 party in New York City and struck her when she rejected his advances.

Her attorney, Tony Buzbee, filed the lawsuit in October 2024 and later sought court approval for her to proceed anonymously. However, U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman denied the request earlier this month.

“The very gravity of the charges, combined with the fact that Plaintiff has presented no evidence of specific and concrete harm from disclosure of her identity and the severe prejudice to Defendants from keeping that identity confidential, undermine her claim to proceed anonymously,” Judge Liman wrote.

The woman was given until March 20 to amend the complaint with her real name but did not do so. As a result, all pending motions were terminated, and the case was officially closed, according to a dismissal order filed Monday.

“This was expected. In this particular case, Jane Doe opted not to proceed,” Buzbee told Rolling Stone in a statement. “There is a lot of fear among these plaintiffs. I can’t blame her. These cases are tough and often re-traumatizing. This woman chose not to face the media circus and the perceived danger she felt. We have to respect that.”

Following the dismissal, Combs’ legal team issued a statement: “Today, a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit filed against Mr. Combs by Texas attorney Anthony Buzbee and his local counsel, Antigone Curis, on behalf of an anonymized plaintiff. This is now the second case brought by these attorneys against Mr. Combs that has been dismissed in its entirety, and it will not be the last. For months, we have seen case after case filed by individuals hiding behind anonymity, pushed forward by attorneys more focused on media headlines than legal merit. The other claims, like the one dismissed today, also will not hold up in a court of law.”

Earlier this month, a federal judge also dismissed civil racketeering and breach of contract claims filed against Sean “Diddy” Combs by his former music producer, Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones. However, several key elements of Jones’ lawsuit remain intact, despite Combs’ legal team’s efforts to have it thrown out.

The embattled has been sued by numerous plaintiffs for alleged sexual misconduct following the high-profile rape and sex-trafficking lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, in November 2023. He currently faces charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation for prostitution. If convicted, he could serve 15 years to life in prison. His trial is set to begin in May.
