Born Halle Maria Berry, she modeled and participated in various beauty pageants like the Miss USA pageant, where she was the first runner up and the Miss World 1986 where she came up sixth, prior to becoming an actress. The romantic comedy Boomerang catapulted her into the acting world in 1992 and her roll has not slowed down since.
In the screen adaptation of the comic Cat Woman, some actors like Ashley Judd and Nicole Kidman were considered for the role. Eventually, the studio decided to cast Halle Berry in the titular role of Cat Woman.
Patience Phillips, the out of costume identity of Cat Woman is portrayed as being white in the comics, but casting Berry was probably a good idea for the whole project, as ” Halle Berry is the lone bright spot…” according to review-aggregator site Rotten tomatoes.
