Many times when a black person is victimized by a crime, it is not highly publicized.  The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reveals that Black and indigenous women are murdered at a rate higher than that of any other race.

The report by the Center For Disease Control and Prevention found that across 18 states Black women were murdered at drastically higher rates than women of other races. Black women are killed at a rate of 4.4 per 100,000 people and indigenous women at a rate of 4.3. Other races are killed at a rate of 1 or 2 per 100,000 people. As quoted by Ebony.

Often the faults of the victim are highlighted more so than the heinousness of the crime committed against them. It is no secret that blacks are highly marginalized in education, employment, economics and other facets.

When it comes to missing persons and murders, the media on a large scale stays mum on the subject when the violence is inflicted on black women.
