A vigil was held on Sunday evening by a California community for Celeste Rivas Hernandez, the 15-year-old girl found dismembered in the trunk of an abandoned Tesla reportedly registered to singer D4vd.
Lake Elsinore residents, of the deceased’s hometown, gathered around 7 p.m. local time to remember the teen who disappeared from her home in 2024, KABC reported.
KABC adds that a makeshift memorial for Celeste has already been mounted on the street she once lived on, filled with flowers and heartbreaking messages from her loved ones.
“Justice for Celeste Rivas,” one banner at the site read.
On September 8, Celeste’s mutilated body was found in the trunk of a Tesla sedan in a Hollywood Hills impound lot.
The vehicle is registered to the 20-year-old singer D4vd, who is originally known as David Anthony Burke.
A TMZ report revealed that the girl had a tattoo on her right index finger that read “Shhh…” — similar to one D4vd has, although other public figures have the same ink, including Rihanna and Lindsay Lohan.
Hernandez was reportedly found wearing a tube top, black leggings, and a yellow bracelet, along with similar metal stud earrings.
Police said her body was wrapped in plastic and was so badly decomposed that it was not completely intact and was initially reported to authorities because the car started to emit a “foul odor.”
According to missing persons posters from the time, Celeste was only 13 years old when she vanished.
According to the Los Angeles Times, she was discovered only a day after her 15th birthday, and cops have suggested that due to the decomposed nature of her body, she had died while she was 14.
Celeste’s mom immediately suspected they had found her daughter when the news broke of the body in the trunk, she told TMZ.
“As many of you know, Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the body found last week,” wrote organizers Esmeralda Lozano and Gisel Vera in a GoFundMe for the girl’s family.
“She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend.” Her family is heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss. They are seeking help to lay her body to rest. Any funds you are able to donate are greatly appreciated,” the statement said.
Burke was scheduled for a world tour that would bring him to Los Angeles this weekend, yet the alt R&B star has cancelled the remainder of his shows due to the alarming investigation.

Also, he was scheduled for a sold-out appearance at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles on Wednesday, which has since been removed from the website and cancelled.
D4vd has been “cooperating with authorities,” a spokesperson for the singer told NBC 4.
