3. Simien Mountains National Park
Simien Mountains National Park is part of the popular Simien Mountains in the Amhara Region and includes Ras Dashan, the highest point in Ethiopia. It is home to a number of endangered species, such as the Ethiopian wolf, Walia ibex, wild goat (found nowhere else in the world), Gelada baboon, and the caracal.
The park was established in 1969 by Clive Nicol, the author of the book “From the Roof of Africa.” It is one of the first sites to be named a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. Simien Mountains National Park is a perfect site for camping.
