2. Blue Nile Falls
Located about 30 kilometers downstream from the town of Bahir Dar in the Amhara Region, Blue Nile Falls is considered to be one of the best-known tourist attractions in Ethiopia. The waterfalls are on the popular Blue Nile River and locals refer to them as “Tis Abay,” meaning the “Great Smoke.”
These falls are estimated to be 45 meters high and consist of streams that fluctuate in size between the dry and rainy seasons. They isolate the ecology of Lake Tana from the rest of the Nile, which has helped in the development of widespread fauna in the lake.
