The Republic of Angola is the seventh-largest country in Africa. Located in the west-coast of south-central Africa, it is bordered by Namibia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, and the Atlantic Ocean.
Its capital Luanda is the largest city. After a protracted anti-colonial struggle that stretched for decades, independence was achieved in 1975.
The country is gifted with several mineral and petroleum resources like manganese, copper, gold, phosphates, granite, marble, uranium, quartz, lead, zinc, wolfram, tin, fluorite, sulfur, feldspar, kaolin, mica, asphalt, gypsum, and talc. This notwithstanding, a large chunk of its estimated 31.83 million people live below the poverty line.
Angolans are also highly influential in the areas of music, academia, sports, gas, and industry.
