Five infamous African leaders who died a violent and barbaric death

Samuel Doe – Liberia

The first indigenous head of state in Liberia was a victim of a coup that saw him lose his life. He was also a perpetrator of the coup that deposed William Tolbert.  His rule was riddled with suppression and he became very unpopular both in and out of Liberia.

During the coup staged by Charles Taylor, Doe was captured by Taylor’s rival leader Prince Y. Johnson. He was paraded naked across Monrovia before being tortured and murdered by decapitation.

Just like al Sadat’s, Doe’s assassination was televised for all to see.
