He was not born Tupac Amaru Shakur

Tupac was a name his mother gave him later in his life.  He was born Lesane Parish Crooks.

When he was less than one year old, his mother renamed him Tupac Amaru after the South American revolutionary Túpac Amaru, whose name means ‘shining serpent’. Shakur is a an Arabic name meaning ‘servant of the All-thankful’.
