Sport Luanda e Benfica – 1922

Established in 1922, the Benfica de Luanda is an Angolan football club based in Luanda, Angola and plays at Estadio 11 de Novembro. Otherwise known as Benfica, the club was established as the Luanda affiliate of SL Benfica of Portugal, and shares the same colours. When it was founded, it was named Sport Luanda e Benfica and later renamed to Saneamento Rangol before returning to its current name in 2010. The club plays home matches at the state-owned 12,000 capacity Estádio dos Coqueiros.
Benfica made headlines in 2017 when it said it would not participate in the Girabola (the Angolan league first division), citing financial reasons.
