From the Hopeless Continent to the Rising Continent: The Economist on Africa

by Sandra Appiah, 1:00am December 14, 2011,

in 2012, The Economist published a cover story on Africa where they tagged it "The Hopeless Continent." Now just this month, they published another cover story on Africa, this time with the title, "Africa Rising," where they talk about the great potential within the continent. This has spurned a great many debate that has left many wondering if a decade could really make such a big difference.

Below are both covers. Join in on the deabte and share your thoughts. Do you think a decade has really made a difference in the state of Africa?
