Fort Santa Cruz – Algeria
Considered as one of the most beautiful forts in Africa, Fort Santa Cruz sits majestically on a hill in Oran, Algeria with the Chapel of Santa Cruz built a few meters below it. The Fort was built by the Spanish between 1577 and 1604. It is the highest of the three forts built by the Spanish in Oran. The French fought the Spanish for Oran and took over the fort and town after driving the Spaniards away.
