The West African country has one of the lowest suicide rates in the continent – 17.3 suicides per 100,000 people of the overall population. There is no much difference between the rate at which both sexes commit suicide. Males recorded 17.5 deaths per 100,000 people while females had 17.1 deaths per 100,000 people.
