South Sudan

South Sudan leads Africa on the index and is third worldwide after Venezuela and Afghanistan.

After its independence from Sudan in 2011, the country has been undergoing one crisis after another.   South Sudan is home to a lot of natural resources including oil, but the population is still suffering from poverty, human rights abuses and food insecurity among others.

It scored 54 points on the Law and Order index.
