Jussie Smollett found himself in a real-life drama this time around as he came to the rescue of his mother, Janet, after an attempted burglary at her Los Angeles home.

Sources revealed to TMZ that Smollett rushed to her side on Monday night when two would-be thieves tried to break in. Janet was unharmed, and Smollet ensured she was safe.

Two prowlers attempted to break into Janet’s L.A. home, causing $300 in damage to a window while trying to smash open a back door, according to TMZ.

They failed to enter the residence. Janet, hearing the commotion, confronted the suspects, who then fled the scene.

After the attempted burglary at Janet’s home, her son Smollet rushed over to comfort her and ensure her safety.

The police took a report for the attempted break-in and are now searching for the suspects. This incident adds to Smollet’s earlier encounters with law enforcement. In 2021, he was convicted on five counts of felony disorderly conduct for filing a false report about a hate crime.

The former “Empire” star had claimed that two men wearing MAGA hats attacked him on a Chicago street, hurling racist and homophobic slurs, dousing him with bleach, and placing a noose around his neck.

Smollet’s account of being attacked created a media firestorm of support, which turned negative after it was revealed to be fabricated.

He was sentenced to 150 days in jail but has appealed and maintains his innocence.
