Michael Jordan is soaring in style literally. He splurged $70 million on a custom private jet, paying homage to his iconic Air Jordan sneaker line.
Following a $2 million investment in an Italian sports car, the NBA legend has now secured a top-of-the-line Gulfstream 650ER, renowned for its impressive speed and luxury. The six-time NBA champion didn’t just buy the jet, according to the New York Post. Jordan spent $500,000 on the paint job on the jet which was inspired by his elephant-print sneakers.
The jet features a sleek silver-and-black design and his iconic Jumpman logo on the rear. The tail number, N236MJ, pays tribute to his No. 23 jersey, six championship titles, and his initials.
Powered by two Rolls-Royce engines, this aircraft can reach speeds close to Mach 1.
The interior of Jordan’s 100-foot-long Gulfstream 650ER private jet is just as luxurious as its exterior. Designed to accommodate 19 passengers and a four-person crew, it features plush leather recliners, a private dining area, a fully stocked bar with LED lighting, and a private bedroom for long flights.
The jet can travel up to 13 hours nonstop, but the luxury comes with a steep price—annual maintenance costs nearly $1.9 million for 200 flight hours, covering fuel, crew wages, and insurance, with expenses rising for additional flight time.
With a net worth of $3.5 billion, the NBA legend continues to live lavishly, both on and off the court.
His recent $70 million purchase of a customized Gulfstream 650ER private jet follows the news of his Illinois mansion finally entering into a contract after 12 years on the market.
The nearly 33,000-square-foot property, initially listed in 2012 for $29 million and reduced to $14.85 million in 2015, features nine bedrooms and 19 bathrooms.
The final sale price remains undisclosed.
