Bronny James, the son of basketball superstar Lebron James, suffered a cardiac arrest during a workout at USC on Monday, TMZ reported.
“Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information,” a family spokesperson told the news outlet.
Added the spokesperson: “LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.”
Sources told the news outlet that the 18-year-old student-athlete was unconscious when he was transported from USC’s Galen Center to the hospital. The location is where the University of Southern California plays and trains. The incident is said to have occurred on Monday morning.
Bronny was a rising basketball prospect during his high school days at Sierra Canyon. His father has also previously spoken about his desire to play with him in the NBA.
“My last year will be played with my son,” James told The Athletic in an interview said. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”
This is a developing story.
