Kei Miller – Jamaica

The poet and novelist has won prestigious prizes like the OCM Bocas Prize in 2017 in Trinidad, and the Forward Prize for poetry in 2014 in the UK. Miller says her inspiration is Trinidadian novelist, Earl Lovelace whose novel, The Wine of Astonishment, birthed his interest in the subject. Miller says it is the duty of writers “to remind people of who they are”.
