More than $70,000 has been raised in a GoFundMe for the children of one of the victims who was gunned during the tragic July 28 mass shooting in Midtown Manhattan.

Per the New York Post, the shooter, identified as Shane Tamura, gunned down Aland Etienne, 46, as well as three other people with an AR-15 assault rifle after he entered the well-known 345 Park Avenue building. Etienne was on duty as a security guard at the time of the incident.

In the fundraiser, Etienne was described as a “devoted father.” “Aland was more than just a colleague or friend — he was light in every room, a pillar of strength to his family, and the kind of father every child dreams of. He leaves behind two beautiful children who were his entire world. His deepest wish was to give them the future they deserve,” the fundraiser adds.

“This GoFundMe has been created in honor of Aland’s legacy and to support the most important part of his life — his children. All funds raised will go directly toward their education and well-being, ensuring that even in his absence, his love continues to guide and protect them. We are grieving, we are heartbroken — but we are also hopeful. Hopeful that the same love Aland gave to the world will now be returned to his children.”

The other victims in the fatal incident were identified as Wesley LePatner, NYPD officer Didarul Islam, and Julia Hyman. Tamura later turned the gun on himself, and he succumbed to his injuries.
