Poem: She-god

by Victhur Ihuka, 12:04pm January 05, 2016,
African woman

African woman

She is powerful
Don’t you see it?
Are you blind to the tenacity of her determination?
What do you see when you look at her?

Don’t you feel her vibrant energy vibrate to the galaxies beyond?
Don’t you feel the perfect tapestry of the master in her?
Don’t you feel her soul begging for release when you take her to the edge?
Are you blind to her curves and her edges screaming to be heard?

She is a she-god
And even though she doesn’t realize this
Even though she lingers on the threshold of mediocrity
Even though she doesn’t know which path she’d choose
Even though she wreaks of scars and welts and bruises of battles fought- some won, some lost

Yet in due time, she’ll rise
Like a phoenix from the fire
High above all that has kept her down
And the world will indeed know
That where there is a will in her heart

Her will will always make a way‎
