Rick Ross decided to cut down his own trees after someone charged him $10K to do it

Rick Ross literally took matters into his own hands after he declined to pay $10,000 to a contractor to cut down some oak trees in his mansion.

In a series of posts on his Instagram stories over the weekend, the rapper and business mogul revealed he reached out to a contractor to cut 10 oak trees in his mansion because he wanted to create space for his farm animals. But after receiving the $10,000 quote – which he said was broken down to $1,000 per tree – the Port of Miami rapper said he decided to cut the trees himself, Complex reported.

“I just told my homie, ‘You go to Home Depot and you go get me the biggest m**herf***ing saw there is with a big chain, and you crank that motherfucker. Imma cut the trees down.’ You heard me?” he said.

“The thing about business, I’m hands on so Imma handle my own… Hold on, I need someone to hit Kanye and tell Kanye I need some of them boots, I’m going to cut the tree down. I need some boots. Yeezy! I need them boots, baby!”

The 46-year-old was later seen in a cowboy hat as he informed his followers that he’s “hands on” and will cut down the trees himself. Staying true to his words, the Hustlin’ rapper shared a video of him cutting the trees with a saw.

“Instead of me paying $10,000 to an outsider, went to Home Depot and bought two new saws for $2,000,” he said. “Was really only $5,000 worth of work. You take the $5,000, give that to your homies… You still got $3,000 for ya pockets. Come on, man, you could go get Wing Stop, man.”

Though Rick Ross may have the luxury to spend however he may want, the rapper has in the past stated that he’s not into the profligate lifestyle particularly when it comes to paying people to do things he can do on his own.

In an interview with Forbes last year, the Rich Forever rapper disclosed how he saves $1 million a year in maintenance costs for his 235-acre Georgia mansion, Face2Face Africa reported. The rapper, born William Leonard Roberts II, reportedly bought the large Fayetteville property in 2014 for $5.8m from retired legendary boxer Evander Holyfield. Besides its humongous compound, the mansion also has over 100 rooms as well as a 350,000-gallon swimming pool.

After becoming the new owner of the property, the rapper said he was constantly reminded by residents of how much Holyfield spent a year to cut the grass. And though Ross is known for rapping about dolling out cash for expensive things as well as services, the 45-year-old said he also very well understands how to spend wisely.

“When I bought the Fayetteville estate, locals would see me walk out of a restaurant and scream, ‘You know Holyfield spent $1 million a year to cut the grass.’ So I decided that I was gonna cut my own grass. And that’s what I did,” the rapper said.

“I went down to John Deere and asked to see the biggest tractor, the most efficient tractor. I told them I had 200-plus acres that I wanted to keep cut, and they pointed out the right tractor. I bought it right then and there. I bought the extended attachment on the back that would cut even wider. Once I got it back home, I filled it up with gas. I may have sat in the same spot for two hours before I got everything working, but once I got it going, I didn’t stop. I cut grass for about five hours.”
