Alice Marie Johnson
She was convicted in 1996 for her involvement in Memphis cocaine distribution and money laundering. She was sentenced to life imprisonment, but in June 2018, after serving 21 years in prison, the 63-year-old woman was released. President Donald Trump commuted her sentence after television personality, Kim Kardashian West, lobbied the president on behalf of Johnson. West got notified of the case through a video that went viral on social media; she later paid a visit to Trump at the White House to urge him to release her.
