Jesse Williams

In 2016, Jesse Williams was the recipient of the BET Humanitarian Award.   He was being honoured for his contribution to the Black Lives Matter movement. He had joined the protests in Ferguson to protest the death of Michael Brown and is the executive producer of Stay Woke: The Black Lives Matter Movement.

The actor and social activist took to the stage to give one of the most powerful speeches.  And as usual, he faced criticism to the extent that people signed a petition to have him fired from his job in Grey’s Anatomy over his speech.
