It has been a very phenomenal decade for the black community. Over the past 10 years, we have been privileged to witness some major milestones that have been achieved by some of the most notable black personalities as well as celebrities.
From politics to sports to entertainment, some of these figures have deservedly earned their seats at the table and forever immortalized their names.
In the music industry, in particular, we have enjoyed beautiful and flawless works of art across all genres from some of our favorite artistes. With the 2010s coming to an end, Billboard has named its 100 greatest albums of the decade.
Unsurprisingly, quite a significant number of the albums in the top 10 are by black artistes, with Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy being adjudged the overall best.
According to Billboard: “While ‘Ye’s MAGA love might make some erstwhile Yeezus freaks loath to preach its dark gospel moving forward, the truth is, MBDTF’s spiraling hopelessness feels more relatable now than when it dropped in the bright-eyed Obama era.”
