Amged El-Hawrani
Amged El-Hawrani was a frontline NHS consultant when he died after testing positive for coronavirus. The 55-year-old Sudanese/British ENT consultant died in March at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester
He was an ear, nose and throat specialist at Queen’s Hospital Burton, and was the first frontline worker in the UK to die after contracting COVID-19, the NHS said.
El-Hawrani was known for his dedication and commitment to his patients and was said to have raised funds for hospitals, including climbing in the Himalayas with a group of friends some years ago.
