LeBron James isn’t one for messy words—but when the king claps back, he does it with style and substance.
After rapper Kevin Gates stirred controversy by making a crass comment about James’ wife, Savannah, suggesting he preferred how “white women look” at the NBA star, James let his Instagram do the talking.
“I don’t like the way Savannah look at LeBron. I like the way them white women look at LeBron,” Gates first said in a video on Instagram.
In a masterclass of quiet confidence, James shared two heartwarming photos: one of Savannah beaming at him, the other capturing an intimate kiss. No captions. No shade. Just love. Message received—loud and clear, netizens said.
James captioned the post: “‘Kings don’t concern themselves with the opinions of peasants.’” Where to next Queen?!?! Let’s get it! ????????????♾️.”
Two of the most-liked comments on the post suggest that James was taking aim at Gates with the caption. “He definitely calling Gates a peasant lmaoooo here for it,” wrote one user, while another said, “I already knew he wasn’t gonna let that s— slide.”
Just a day after James appeared to subtly respond to Gates’ controversial remarks about his wife Savannah, the rapper made a bold courtside appearance at Game 2 of the Lakers’ playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Gates, seated in the front row alongside social media personality Brittany Renner, wore a white, mostly unbuttoned shirt as he watched James and the Lakers even the series.
James has long celebrated his enduring relationship with wife Savannah, whom he began dating as high school sweethearts in Akron, Ohio, back in 2002.
In a heartfelt moment during the 2023 ESPY Awards, where he was honored for best record-breaking performance, the NBA icon praised Savannah for her unwavering support, saying, “No one has sacrificed more… I appreciate you for that, love you.”
The couple, married since 2013, share three children: Bronny, 20, Bryce, 17, and Zhuri, 10.
