Sexual harassment
According to the survey, sexual harassment is the highest risk women and girls face in these cities. Seventy-eight per cent of experts across the 22 cities described sexual harassment as an extremely high or high risk for girls and young women in their city and 77 per cent said that, in their opinion, it occurs either very or fairly often in public. Sixty per cent of experts also said these cases are never or hardly ever reported to the authorities.
Johannesburg was ranked first in Africa when it came to sexual harassment and second in the world after Bogota, Colombia.
Kampala comes in second, followed by Nairobi and Cairo.
