The brother of Lola Doll, the social media influencer and singer who was shot multiple times in front of her home in Guyana on Saturday night, recently opened up about the incident and her condition.
In a statement, the Guyana Police Force said that Lola Doll, whose real name is Lolita Callender, was sitting in her car when a male suspect on a motorcycle opened fire on her. The 33-year-old victim was shot in the neck, face, hands, and right leg.
Callender was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, and her condition was listed as critical at the time of this report.
“I was inside at home when I hear gunshots and run out to see was what, only to see me sister lying in she car and blood, if you see blood, pouring out,” Callender’s brother told Stabroek News at the hospital.
“We rushed her here… I can’t tell you where all she was shot, but she was shot in like her face, her side, I don’t know where else… Blood, so much blood everywhere. She lost a lot of blood but she is a fighter.”
Authorities have since arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting. Paul Daby Jr., a businessman sanctioned by the United States earlier this year for drug trafficking, has also been declared wanted over the shooting incident.
Prior to the shooting, Callender had taken to Facebook Live to claim that she was receiving threats.
“Police ranks are actively pursuing the suspect, and CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed as part of the investigation,” authorities said in the statement, adding that investigations are also ongoing.
“The Guyana Police Force is urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to come forward.”
