Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris didn’t let hecklers disrupt her rally in Wisconsin. While the hecklers had their motives, Harris handled the situation with poise and wit during her speech at La Crosse on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
As Harris was discussing the fight for reproductive rights ahead of Election Day, she mentioned former President Donald Trump’s role in “handpicking” three U.S. Supreme Court Justices, which led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade. At that moment, hecklers began shouting, though their words were not clearly heard. Harris quickly addressed them.
“Oh, you guys are at the wrong rally,” she said, as the crowd of thousands laughed and cheered. Harris smiled and waved at the hecklers before adding, “No, I think you meant to go to the smaller one down the street,” prompting even louder cheers from the audience.
Since taking on the mantle of the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Kamala Harris has won the admiration of many. Her speeches and ability to handle challenging situations have been widely praised.
After her debate with Donald Trump, Harris was widely regarded as the winner. Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT), a vocal Trump critic, described her as “intelligent and capable.”
“This was classic President Trump,” Romney remarked of Trump’s debate performance. “As for Kamala Harris, many people didn’t know her well outside of a few unflattering clips. But during the debate, she showed she’s intelligent, capable, and has a clear point of view on important issues, and she demonstrated that repeatedly.”
