While their people suffered, these African countries spent billions on military in 2017

Angola

Angola comes in second at $2.37billion, a significant drop from 2016. The drop has been attributed to government spending cuts. The drop in oil revenue could also be a factor in the drop.

The current expenditure is 2.96% of the GDP.

Angola has an external debt of $43.8 billion.
