Zoë Kravitz recently opened up about breaking up with fellow actor and her ex-fiancé Channing Tatum, and it appears she harbors no ill will against the 44-year-old.
Kravitz, 36, and The Lost City star became romantically involved while on set for Blink Twice, the film that landed the former her directorial debut. The pair eventually got engaged in 2023, but they canceled their upcoming nuptials some months after the film’s release.
During a recent interview with Elle magazine, Kravitz was asked if their split has impacted how she currently perceives the movie. “Not at all,” she stated. She also touched on Tatum’s performance in the film and reflected on their journey together.
“I love this thing that we made together, and I care for him very much. Even when you bring up how great his performance is, it warms my heart to hear that, and I’m so happy that all of it happened. I just feel so grateful that we got to go on that journey together.”
Kravitz also said her ex-fiancé has “so much more coming, and I think he’s in a place as an actor where he’s feeling really confident and people are seeing different sides of him.” She added: “He’s got a lot to offer, so I’m excited for people to keep witnessing that.”
Kravitz in her feature for WSJ. Magazine‘s Fall 2022 Women’s Fashion issue also touched on working with Tatum on Blink Twice and the positives of that.
“When you make things with people it’s a very sacred space, and when you’re compatible with somebody creatively it often opens up other channels, because you’re kind of sharing all of yourself,” she said at the time. “I’m really grateful that this movie has brought him into my life that way.”
Tatum in a 2024 interview with PEOPLE similarly had good things to say about Kravitz and working with her. “This is what I’ll say about creating with someone that you are with or love: I suggest it,” he said at the time.
“If you are thinking about having a kid or if you’re thinking about getting married, go find the hardest possible creative project with your partner.”
He added: “It was so hard to make the movie,” he said about Blink Twice. “Probably one of the hardest movies that I’ve worked on… for a lot of different reasons.”
“But when you can look across the room or the set and know that you have the best person that is next to you trying to solve problems, and you’re really looking to them for answers just as equally as trying to solve them yourself, that is unbelievable,” he explained.
