Codey Young

Codey James Young is a biracial African-American poet from the United States. He has been writing poetry since the age of 12, when he scribbled his first lines in a school notebook. His work focuses on the themes of racial identity, resistance to injustice, and self-empowerment. Currently, Codey is traveling on fellowship as a Thomas J. Watson Fellow, pursuing an independent research project that uses poetry to examine art, activism, and Black masculinity in the African Diaspora. He has performed his work in Germany, England, and the United States. Codey has also been published by Apiary Magazine as well as Badilisha Poetry X-change, the world's largest online collective of African poets.
