Authorities in North Carolina said a 67-year-old man shot a Taco Bell employee multiple times after the suspect got aggressive because he “believed he had been given an incorrect amount of change.” Per FOX Business, the suspect, identified as Doll McLendon, was initially placing an order at the restaurant’s drive-thru on Saturday night when he got aggressive, the Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police Department said in a statement.
“Upon arrival, officers located an employee suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” the statement said. “Witness statements indicate that after ordering food, the suspect became aggressive in the drive-thru when he believed he had been given an incorrect amount of change.
“The suspect proceeded to leave the drive-thru and come inside the restaurant where he became more aggressive, produced a firearm and began shooting inside the restaurant,” the statement added.

Investigators said McLendon fled the scene in the wake of the incident, adding that the employee in question was admitted to a hospital with “life-threatening injuries.” Police ultimately linked McLendon to the shooting by reviewing surveillance footage and taking statements from eyewitnesses.
Authorities also linked McLendon’s vehicle to the shooting scene, saying it had a “distinctive model.” The suspect was later arrested at his home. “The suspect walked out and surrendered where officers were able to take him into custody without incident,” the Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police Department said.
The charges brought against McLendon include assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into occupied property.
“We are shocked to hear that this happened,” Taco Bell said in a statement to FOX Business. “We understand that the franchise owner and operator of this location is working with the local authorities in their investigation and will be offering support to all team members present.”
