It appears Tyrese and Samantha Gibson have yet to close their divorce chapter as the singer and actor allegedly owes his ex-wife’s lawyers nearly $500,000 in legal fees. Besides demanding that Tyrese, 46, pay the money owed, Samantha’s lawyers also want him jailed over that.

Samantha, in her fourth motion filing, also wants the judge to hold Tyrese in contempt and order him to settle the debt he allegedly owes The Gleklen Law Firm and Bloom Lines Alexander, TMZ reported.

Samantha, who shares a daughter with Tyrese, claims that the debt currently stands at $492,651.99 plus interest, but the 46-year-old is still doing nothing to settle it. The two law firms want the How You Gonna Act Like That singer to be held in contempt and handed a maximum punishment of 20 days in jail.

“Mr. Gibson has the ability to pay the court ordered attorney’s fees and accrued interest and chooses to ignore the court’s order, as he has ignored and violated prior orders,” Samantha states in her complaint, per Billboard. She also said her ex-husband’s actions are a “blatant disregard for this court’s order on fees.”

“The movants respectfully request … that the court, in making its finding of willful contempt, impose severe sanctions upon Mr. Gibson as deemed appropriate by the court in light of his history of violating court orders,” her lawyers also state in the filing.

Tyrese and Samantha tied the knot in 2017, and they divorced in 2020. In September 2024, Tyrese was detained for failing to pay their daughter’s court-ordered child support, Face2Face Africa reported.

Judge Kevin Farmer, frustrated with Tyrese’s refusal to pay $10K/month in child support since April 2023, held him in contempt of court, TMZ reported at the time. The bailiff handcuffed Tyrese and escorted him out of the courtroom.

The judge offered Tyrese a chance to avoid jail by paying $73,000, which included $7,500 for his ex-wife Samantha’s attorney fees. Tyrese was later released following an appeal filed by his attorney, Tanya Mitchell Graham, challenging the judge’s decision, according to law enforcement sources.
