Iconic golfer Tiger Woods’ son, Charlie Woods, has announced his commitment to play college golf professionally. The youngest of Tiger Woods’ two kids shared the news on Instagram on February 10, confirming he will pursue his sports career, though not at his famous father’s alma mater.
The 17-year-old athlete shared on social media. “Excited to announce my commitment to play golf at Florida State University—go Noles!”
The 50-year-old golf legend, Tiger Woods, attended Stanford University on a golf scholarship but turned pro after two years.
Woods has 82 PGA Tour victories and entered the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2022. He has two children with ex-wife Elin Nordegren, including 18-year-old Sam Alexis Woods.

He expressed his support for his son in Charlie’s comment section, writing, “Congratulations Charlie. I’m so proud of you on entering this next chapter of your life.”
Currently a junior at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Fla., the teen will join FSU’s 2027 recruiting class, ESPN reported.
The young Woods has significantly advanced his golf career. Last May, he won his first AJGA tournament, the Team TaylorMade Invitational, which boosted his ranking in the Rolex American Junior Golf Association from 604th to 21st. Woods finished the 54-hole tournament with a total score of 15-under 201.
His talent continued to show in subsequent tournaments: he tied for ninth at the Boys Junior PGA Championship in July and tied for 18th at the Rolex Tournament of Champions in November. Also in November, he was key to The Benjamin School’s victory in the Florida High School Athletic Association Class A state title, contributing a 4-under 68 in the final round.
The 17-year-old’s Instagram account now features the Florida State Men’s Golf handle in his bio, and he has cleared all his previous posts, leaving only the commitment announcement.

According to People, Tiger Woods, a billionaire, has consistently expressed his support for both of his children. Notably, during the July 2021 premiere of the Golf Digest mini-series A Round with Tiger: Celebrity Lessons, he told Jada Pinkett Smith that Charlie was a “natural.”
He also stated that he does not wish for Charlie to feel obligated to play golf, emphasizing, “I just don’t want him to hate the game.”
“I get emotional about it. Some of my best memories are being out there with my dad,” Tiger said.
Tiger Woods shared with reporters in December 2020 how meaningful it was to compete alongside Charlie in the PNC Championship.
“I don’t think words can describe it,” Tiger said at the time. “Just the fact that we were able to have this experience together, Charlie and I, it’s memories for a lifetime.”
