15-year-old Jordan Edwards was killed by a cop
On April 29, 2017, 15-year-old Jordan Edwards was leaving a party with his two teenage brothers and two other teens when he was shot by an officer as he sat in the front seat of a car. Police at the time had arrived at the scene in Balch Springs to investigate an underage drinking complaint when they heard gunshots outside and spotted the vehicle leaving. Roy Oliver, 37, a police officer fired a rifle into the car. This pierced the front passenger window and hit Edwards in the head. Police at the time said the vehicle reversed “aggressively” towards the officer, but footage rubbished that claim. The police officer was fired in May for violating department policies. He was also indicted on a murder charge.
