Sean “Diddy” Combs, the 54-year-old music mogul, is currently detained at MDC Brooklyn after being arrested by Homeland Security Investigations at a New York City hotel.
He faces charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. Amid his high-profile status, Diddy has been placed in the Special Housing Unit (SHU) due to the severity of his charges.
He was denied bail following his arraignment on Tuesday and has been receiving three well-balanced meals daily. Combs, currently isolated in MDC Brooklyn, receives the same meals as other inmates, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner served daily.
The New York Post obtained the facility’s menu and revealed that Diddy’s first meal behind bars included Swedish meatballs, egg noodles, green beans, a garden salad with dressing, and a 16 oz. beverage. Alternatively, he could have chosen a black bean burger if he was watching his weight.
The rapper, currently held in the Special Housing Unit (SHU) at MDC Brooklyn, has his meals delivered to his cell. He is allowed one hour of recreation daily and three showers a week.
The Metropolitan Detention Center’s menu “alternates weekly, offering multiple options at each meal from a chicken patty sandwich and a turkey roast to a cheese pizza, among others,” according to US Weekly.
On Wednesday, Diddy appeared before a judge seeking bail but was denied again, as prosecutors argued he was a flight risk.
U.S. District Judge Andrew Carter agreed, telling Diddy and his attorney, “The government has proven the defendant is a danger. The bail package is insufficient even on risk of flight.”
His lawyer maintains his innocence amid serious allegations. Diddy is accused of orchestrating “Freak Offs,” described as elaborate, produced sex performances that he directed, recorded, and sometimes participated in.
Allegedly, he drugged victims to keep them compliant for days and used recorded footage as blackmail. Prosecutors also claim he used guns to intimidate and threaten his victims.
Earlier this year, federal agents raided several of Combs’ homes, discovering 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant allegedly used for his “Freak Offs.”
Diddy’s legal troubles began when his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, filed a civil suit against him in November, accusing him of rape and abuse throughout their 10-year relationship. Diddy swiftly settled the suit without admitting any wrongdoing.
In May, a 2016 hotel surveillance video surfaced, showing Combs stomping, dragging, and hitting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
Diddy apologized for his actions in a now-deleted Instagram video. Following the video’s release, several more lawsuits have been filed against Diddy by additional alleged victims.
