Ice-T is one of the greatest U.S. rappers who rose from the streets to stardom. Born as an orphan on February 16, 1958, he would grow to become a celebrated rapper and a distinguished act in America’s entertainment industry.
His journey to stardom would also see him battle racism but his life turned around when he joined the army. It was in the army that his interest in music grew and after his time in the army, he found himself in crime and violence as he found it hard to provide for his family.
Music became an escape route for him, starting in the rap group C.I.A and later becoming a solo artist, producing albums like “Rhyme Pays” and “Power” on his own Rhyme $yndicate Records.

In addition to his rap and acting career, Ice-T is also an entrepreneur, with multiple businesses. He founded Rhyme Syndicate, a record label that helped uplift West Coast rap. Formed in 1987, Ice-T wanted to unite East and West Coast rappers, DJs and record producers. The record label launched the careers of several artists like DJ Aladdin, Hen-Gee & Evil-E (NYC Spin Masters), Lord Finesse, Donald D, Toddy Tee, WC, King Tee, Bronx Style Bob, Divine Styler, and Everlast among others.
Ice-T also co-owns a cannabis dispensary in Jersey City, New Jersey, alongside Charis Burrett. The Medicine Woman was first started by Burrett in California as a non-profit delivery service. However, Ice-T came in as a co-owner when Burret wanted to expand. The business started with 300 products and today offers more than 1,000 products. It aims to provide a full spectrum of global plant medicines to benefit the health and wellness of its local communities.
What is more, he is the founder of the clothing line Ice Wear. The rapper said at the time of its launch that the “fashionable young men’s street wear collection clothing would be geared towards men chocked full of hyper masculinity.” That is his first venture into clothing, adding that the line will project “cultural expression.”
In addition to his clothing line, he is into the spirits industry. He collaborated with Aiko Importers and Pay Up Management to launch and promote the upscale of Original Gangster XO Brandy, marking his entry into the luxury spirits market.
