American music icon Jennifer Lopez is lending her voice and resources to assist those affected by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.

The 55-year-old music icon directed her followers on Instagram to the Boys & Girls Club, which she said is providing “safe spaces and support” for children and also families displaced by the fires.

Lopez attended the club as a teenager and became a spokesperson back in 2010.

She sent her love to those affected by the fires, saying: “My heart goes out to everyone affected by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. I can’t even imagine how deeply traumatic these events can be, especially for children who’ve lost their homes and sense of security.”

“The Boys and Girls Club of America was where I found solace and refuge so often in my own childhood. It’s a place where kids can feel safe, cared for, and empowered, even during the hardest times”, she added.

The wildfires have claimed at least 16 lives, destroyed 12,300 homes and structures, and forced 180,000 people to evacuate.

The largest blaze, the Palisades Fire, has scorched 23,707 acres, while the Eaton Fire in Pasadena is the deadliest, with 11 fatalities, as per reports.

Lopez canceled her upcoming media appearances, including a premiere for her film ‘Unstoppable’ and scheduled interviews in New York. “It’s important to her to focus on supporting the community of Los Angeles during this very difficult time,” a source told People.

Reports indicate that the actress has also reached out to her ex-husband Ben Affleck, checking in on him and his children, who were evacuated due to the wildfires.

The source said “She offered her support for whatever they need”, hoping those around her remain safe in the difficult period.
