Jayvis McClover and Rodrick McQueen, students from Dillard High School, were arrested on Monday for allegedly attacking a teacher at their school.

According to the police, the 19-year-olds “intentionally launched a synchronized physical attack” on the teacher after verbally threatening him, NBC Miami reported.

According to reports, McClover and McQueen hit the teacher in the head and face, causing him to fall to the ground. After the attack, he experienced back pain, bruising, and swelling.

An arrest report indicates that to stop the assault, school security personnel had to drag the accused away from the victim.

According to one student who watched the incident, the teacher had a reputation for challenging students and said something to the two to provoke them.

Rich Madnan, a senior, said, “I just seen, like, the guy, the teacher, he was talking to one of the students, and he was like, what you gonna do about it now? And then them boys just started fighting. I guess what happened was, the teacher was talking to them and they didn’t appreciate it and they just started fighting.”

Both men were taken into custody and charged with battery on a public or private education employee. The two suspects were instructed to keep away from the victim and not return to the high school.

Although McQueen was released on his own recognizance, McClover was required to post a $15,000 bond.

When his defense asked for a reduced bond because McClover was on schedule to graduate and his mother couldn’t pay it, the judge refused.

“Counsel, he and another individual, without any provocation, walked up and started punching a teacher in the face, beating him,” the judge responded. “He’s a danger to the community. $15,000 bond. Have a good day.”
