Poem: Waiting

Victhur Ihuka April 13, 2015

African Woman

My eyes are glued to the path you took when you left
The silence of your absence pierces through my soul
Solitude has broken me to a thousand pieces
The river of songs in my heart has dried up

How do I let you know
Your being lights my soul
Would you believe me if I told you
You’re my favorite peace/piece

My soul yearns for your return
My spirit asks each day when it will be
Come home, my love, I plead
I want to paint happiness with my fingers on your skin

My eyes are glued to the path you took when you left
Hoping the chord that binds us
Will  guide you back to my soul:
