A prosecution team in Georgia was spat at by a man accused of murder after a court handed him three life sentences for fatally shooting the mother of his daughter as the victim held the minor.
Footage from WSBTV showed Taco Nash, 25, being jostled out of the courtroom after he went on a tirade and spat at the prosecution team in the wake of the verdict. Nash’s conviction on July 2 came after authorities accused him of shooting and killing Mi’ckeya Montgomery in 2022.
“Today was the day that they got to see the real him. The rest was a facade…he’s a sociopath,” Montgomery’s aunt, Jasmine Walters, said.
Besides being handed the three life sentences, Nash also received another 60-year sentence after being found guilty of killing Montgomery, 22. “He’s right where he needs to be,” Montgomery’s family also said.
Montgomery and Nash shared an 18-month-old daughter, and authorities said the deceased victim was holding the minor when her father fatally shot her mother outside her daycare, the New York Post reported.
Nash and Montgomery’s relationship was said to be violent, and a judge had even ordered the pair to cease getting into contact with each other.
But on June 15, 2022, Nash called Montgomery on multiple occasions to ask that they meet for him to retrieve his items, per Dekalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston. Montgomery, however, paid no heed to Nash and went over to their daughter’s daycare to pick her up.

Staff at the daycare also knew about the nature of their relationship, with the court ordering them to contact authorities if Nash showed up at the establishment. Montgomery was said to be with her daughter when Nash came up to her at the daycare, but she managed to re-enter the facility thanks to an employee. Another employee also contacted police.
But Nash, who was armed, broke into the daycare and drew a gun on Montgomery. He also ordered Montgomery to exit the daycare with him and their baby – else he was going to shoot her.
After coming out of the daycare, the three entered a wooded area, with the employees saying that they then started hearing screams, per the New York Post. Responding officers initiated a search in the area before a shot was fired.
Nash, who was later seen holding his bloodied daughter and unarmed, claimed that Montgomery took her own life. The victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the head when she was found, and the weapon was positioned below her hand.
Authorities also ruled her death a homicide and established that she was holding her daughter at the time she was fatally shot. The baby, however, did not sustain any injuries.
Boston said that prior to showing up from the wooded area, Nash had phoned a relative of Montgomery’s and apologized to her for shooting the victim.
Nash was handed the punishment after a jury convicted him of several charges. He was found guilty of Malice Murder, four counts of Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault – Family Violence, two counts of Kidnapping, Aggravated Stalking, Cruelty to Children in the First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon or First Offender Probationer, and Possession of a Firearm After Having Been Convicted of Certain Felonies in connection with the shooting.
