Lifeline in the Desert
Historians regard the Nile as North Africa’s tree of life. Considering that much of North Africa is covered by the Sahara Desert, the Nile serves as a major source of life for the entire region. Just like the ancient Egyptians, modern residents of the Nile Valley rely on the river for survival. Some historians claim that Ancient Egypt would not have become the greatest mark of civilization in history had it not been for the River Nile, which supported Egypt’s agriculture, wealth, and power – then and now.
