The Great Bend
As it flows north through the Sahara Desert, the Nile makes a massive bend to the southwest, between the Nile delta in the north and the Sudanese border in the south, wandering across the desert for about 200 miles before resuming its northward flow. Apart from supporting agriculture along its banks, the River Nile serves as an important means of transport along its stretch, especially during floods.
