Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna has been in the news for asking California Governor Gavin Newsom to free Canadian musician Tory Lanez.
Lory is presently serving a 10-year jail sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

The artiste, known in real life as Daystar Peterson, was found guilty in December 2022 of assault with a semiautomatic handgun, having a loaded, unlicensed firearm in a vehicle, and firing a gun with gross carelessness.
The high-profile case concluded with his sentencing in August 2023, provoking continued discussion about the trial’s fairness.

Luna took to social media to express her concerns about the verdict and its larger ramifications. “I am calling on Gov. Newsom @CAgovernor to review Tory Lanez’s case and issue a pardon,” Luna posted.
“His 10-year sentence was based on flawed evidence, political pressure, and prosecutorial bias. Justice must be blind — not driven by headlines.” She concluded her post with a clear call to action: “Free Tory Lanez,” she added.

Lanez supporters have expressed similar emotions, with some citing different narratives about the events of the night in issue.
Although Governor Newsom has not publicly addressed Luna’s appeal, her involvement adds a new political dimension to a case that has already captured the public’s interest and is a rare instance of a sitting member of Congress offering commentary on a high-profile legal dispute.
It can be recalled that Lawyers for incarcerated musician Tory Lanez reportedly produced new evidence claiming that the artiste did not shoot Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

According to the supposed evidence, the legal team stated that Megan Thee Stallion’s former friend, Kelsey Harris, was responsible for the shooting.
The lawyers made these claims at a press conference on Wednesday, alleging that Tory Lanez, aka Daystar Peterson, was never given “a fair trial, free from bias, political interference, and media-driven pressure.”
