Judge Greg Mathis’ wife, Linda, has filed for a divorce after nearly 40 years of their marriage.

Linda filed the divorce papers on Thursday, August 22, citing “irreconcilable differences”, according to court documents reported by TMZ.

The paperwork also revealed that the couple, who have been separated since July 17 this year have been living apart up until Linda filed for the divorce.

Both Mathis and Linda are alumnus of Eastern Michigan University, and tied the knot way back in 1985, welcoming four children in Jade, Camara, Greg Jr and Amir.

Mathis, 64, is best known for his television show “Judge Mathis” but will now have to deal with the permanent absence of his wife in the years to come.

With all four of Judge Greg Mathis and Linda’s children now adults, the couple does not need to address custody or child support. However, Linda is now seeking spousal support in the divorce.

Her filing also indicates that she is blocking the court from granting spousal support to Mathis, focusing the support on herself rather than him.

It is however not known if the couple had a prenuptial agreement.

Judge Greg Mathis’ estimated net worth is about $25 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, and he amassed his wealth through his career as a judge and television personality.

He also served as a district court judge for Michigan’s 36th District for five years between 1995 and 2000.

Mathis then went on and starred in his own reality courtroom show, “Judge Mathis,” which aired for 24 seasons from September 1999 to May 2023.

Warner Bros. canceled the show last year amid a decline in daytime syndication, according to Variety.

During its run, “Judge Mathis” earned several accolades, including a Daytime Emmy in 2018 for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding News, Talk, or Information Series in 2004.
